Questions

How do I adopt a dog from Herding Haven?

Adoption through Herding Haven rescue is about more than just finding a dog a home —it’s about finding the right home. At Herding Haven we take the time to get to know each dog’s personality, needs, and quirks, as well as the lifestyle and expectations of potential adopters. Our goal is to create lasting matches where both the dog and the adopter thrive. By focusing on compatibility and lifestyle synergy, we strive to ensure every adoption is a perfect fit—for the dog, for the adopter for furever.  Visit the adopt page to learn more and complete an adoption interest form.

What volunteer opportunities are available through Herding Haven?

Herding Haven offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for those passionate about making a difference in the lives of rescue dogs. As a foster-based rescue, we rely on dedicated volunteers to help with everything from fostering dogs in their homes to assisting with transport, event support, fundraising, dog walking and socialization and administrative tasks. Whether you have a few hours a week or more time to give, there’s a way to get involved and help us provide love, care, and second chances to herding breed dogs in need. Please contact kathie@herdinghaven.org if you are interested in getting involved with Herding Haven's rescue efforts.

How are my donations to Herding Haven used?

As a 501c3 non-profit organization, Herding Haven relies entirely on donations. Your tax-deductible donation will go directly toward essential needs such as medical care—including vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and treatment for injuries or illnesses—nutritious food, and basic supplies like bedding, crates, leashes, and toys. These contributions ensure that rescued dogs receive the care, comfort, and support they need while waiting for their forever homes. As a rescue that focuses on special needs, many of the dogs we take in require extensive and often costly medical care. From surgeries to treat painful conditions like entropion, to ongoing treatments for chronic illnesses, mobility aids, and specialized diagnostics, the medical needs of these dogs are significant. Your support directly funds these lifesaving interventions, giving dogs who would otherwise be overlooked a chance at a healthy, happy life in a loving home.

What is the mission of Herding Haven?

Herding Haven's mission is to provide refuge and rehabilitation for herding dogs with physical, medical and behavioral special needs so that they may become more adoptable.
